Here are my reviews for Falling for Mr. Darcy and Bluebells in the Mourning.

Description:

What happens to the happily ever after when the ever after has already happened?

A spirited courtship indeed! Jane Austen’s much adored Pride and Prejudice is transfigured in this regency adaptation.  That fickle friend Fate intervenes when an unexpected event threatens the happily ever after of literature’s favorite love story.  The gentlemen from Netherfield have left, winter is upon the land and after a horrifying carriage accident, Elizabeth Bennet finds her spirit transported as if by magic into Mr. Darcy’s London home.  Paranormally tethered to the disagreeable man, it doesn’t help that he believes she is a phantasm of his love struck mind, not the real Elizabeth.  Somehow they must learn to trust, learn to love and learn to bring Elizabeth back to her earthly form before it is too late.

My Thoughts:

If you love Pride and Prejudice (obviously, otherwise why are you looking at a book with Mr. Darcy in the title?) and Just Like Heaven, this is the perfect book for you. As I am a fan of both, that makes it perfect for me. Sweet and funny and charmingly written, Haunting Mr. Darcy is irresistible.

Following a terrible accident, Elizabeth Bennet finds herself in a marvelous library, and believes herself to be having a lovely dream. Until she sees Mr. Darcy, and her dream takes an unpleasant turn. Why is Mr. Darcy, of all people, in her head? She soon realizes it is not a dream, and that her spirit is stuck to Mr. Darcy.

This is when the fun truly begins.

Poor Darcy thinks he's going mad as Elizabeth follows him through his normal, everyday life, chattering away when he is the only one who can hear her. I laughed so hard while reading their banter and the bemusement of those around them. While the premise may sound a little dark, this is, for the most part, a lighthearted tale.

Aside from Darcy and Elizabeth, I loved the secondary characters. At Longbourn, the Bennets hover anxiously over Elizabeth, with Lydia making a particularly strong showing that was unexpectedly sweet. Col. Fitwilliam was the best, though, in my humble opinion, as he prompted my favorite scene in the novel (it involved a great deal of port). And, of course, one mustn't forget the incomparable Mr. Carroll, the butler of Darcy House.

Overall, I really, really liked this book. Maybe not quite as much as Ms. Mackrory's previous novels, but enough that I have no doubt I will be re-reading it more than once in days to come.

  1. Oh, so Lizzy will follow Darcy through his everyday life? I thought they will be able to interact only during nights. That is really amusing story of Darcy thinking he is going mad (while having all sound reasons to actually believe his "madness"):). Thank you for the review. Look forward to your interview with the author!

  4. I think this is a very original premise. I have never dreamed there are so many scenarios authors can come up with to further Lizzy and Darcy's love story.

  7. Nice to see Lydia getting some positive page time, She is one of the few people who don't get a happy ending in Pride and Prejudice so I like to think she gets a second chance, considering she's only 15.

  8. I can only imagine Lizzy's commentary on Darcy's daily living! And perhaps in the end Lydia may have a better relationship with Lizzy.

I'm glad you loved it - I've heard nothing but great things about it - and I thought your review was great as well. I, too, find it difficult to summarize things.
