I love steampunk; it is currently one of my very
favorite genres, due in no small part to your novel. What is the
hardest part of writing that genre? The historical aspects? The
gadgetry? And what is the most fun part?I started out writing historical romance, so the history aspect comes fairly easily. It was the world building -- making sure I put on paper what I saw in my head. I tend to concentrate more on character than environment when I write, but setting is a huge part of steampunk, so I needed to be really attentive with it.
If you could live in a steampunk world, what sort of person would you like to be? The mad scientist? Goggled adventurer? Victorian lady with a blade hidden in her parasol?
Oh, I would have to be a lady -- living in a house with hot water and plumbing! lol. I would wear pretty things and carry a dagger in my boot. I'd drive a velocycle and spend my evenings with men like Tesla or Poe. Oh, and I would be BFFs with Oscar Wilde. :-)
If Queen Victoria came after you for your scandalous use of her, what would you do?
Run screaming! No, I'd probably apologize (I'm Canadian, we're sorry for everything), and then maybe suggest she lighten up. If that didn't work, I'd run. She's an old woman in the book. I'm pretty sure I could lose her.
If
you could go out to dinner with any of your fictional gentlemen from
the Steampunk Chronicles, who would it be and what would you wear?Oh, it would be Jack. Maybe Griff, but definitely my Jack. I'd wear something black with feathers, and a pair of Fluevog boots. I'd carrying a dagger in my bustle. We'd look like a couple of crows. Maybe I'd wear a plague doctor mask, but only if he wore one too.

LOL. Thanks! Isn't that part of the I am #4 series? I'm really surprised the book has made it this far. I'm sure someone will shut me down eventually. lol.
